Uglily is the Lotus Complien. It belongs to the Flora and Water Elements. It grows into Lopod, which grows into Lotiful.

Appearance[]

Uglilies have dark faces with three tentacles at the bottom, thick green lips, and two bored-looking eyes. They have a lily pad on the top of their head, colored green, with a bright pink flower bud emerging from the top. They have two white appendages on their back they use for propulsion.

Information[]

Uglilies are uncommon Compliens found in large numbers around swampy areas. Lopods are frequently thought of as ugly creatures, and as such, Uglilies have associated themselves with a sort of shame which causes them to hide underwater. Uglilies receive energy through photosynthesis, and only the lily pad atop their heads needs to be exposed to keep them energized. This allows them to rest underwater, without any form of lungs or gills. Uglilies use their mouths to suck in large gulps of water, which they use to water themselves, similar to various other plants. Uglilies simply spend time in swamps, waiting to grow into a Lopod.

While many do consider the Uglily to be ugly, so much that it was named as such, a few cultures actually celebrate the goofy look of the Uglily, appreciating a sort of dopey charm it gives off. Occasionally, festivals will be held celebrating the Uglily, and a few young children keep around Uglilies as pets, since they are relatively easy to take care of. In some areas, merchandise with imagery of Uglily has even become quite popular, allowing this Complien to get large levels of popularity.

It should be noted that Lotifuls care for young Uglilies very much, frequently wading back into the water to take care of these species. The friendly nature of the Lotiful can often be very calming towards Uglilies, and their presence is frequently appreciated.
