Demilux is the Half Light Complien. It belongs to the Dark and Light Elements. It grows into Deminox.
Appearance[]
Demilux is a small, humanoid Complien cloaked by a white hood. Through the hood, only its face and limbs are visible. Its face is split down the middle, with its right side being black and its left side being white. Demilux has large, round eyes, one having white sclera and a black pupil, the other having black sclera and a white pupil. Only one of these eyes is usually seen open at any given time. Its arms interestingly do not match up with its face, as it has a black right arm and a white left arm, though its legs do match its face. Neither its arms nor its legs end in discernible digits, with its legs ending in a point and its arms ending in mitten-like hands. A small stone seems to hold its cloak together, with a distinctive black and white swirl pattern.

Habitat[]
Demiluxes are a species commonly found in forested areas. They are frequently found in eastern Eukiyfrenian countries, as well as northern countries in Comipea, such as Suyzuebia, Yakuht, Soylatte Greens. They fare better in moderately cold temperatures, and seem to migrate southwards during the winter, and northwards during the summer.
Biology[]
The left and right halves of a Demilux's brain actually appear to be completely distinctive, functioning totally independently of one another, and yet having control of the full body. When both "halves" of a Demilux are awake, they seem to struggle with conflicting actions. As a result of this, Demiluxes have adopted an asynchronous sleep schedule, where one half lays dormant while the other half is active. As a result of this, Demiluxes are active at all hours of the day.
The "hood" of a Demilux is a full appendage, likely an additional layer intended to provide light warmth and protection. When threatened, a Demilux may hide inside its hood to obscure itself. Demiluxes are a herbivorous species, sustaining on small berries they find while foraging.
Behavior[]
Demiluxes are fairly solitary Compliens, mostly wandering around forests and tending to themselves. While a parenting Deminox will take care of its young for about a year, after this period, a Demilux will take to the world and fend for itself. Demiluxes subsist largely on a diet of berries, and are a herbivorous Complien species. Periodically, they may come into contact with other Demiluxes, and will exchange some food if they have a surplus, before continuing on their own way.
The two separate halves of a Demilux have distinct personalities that are only active for roughly half a day. While research shows that Demiluxes do have the ability to recognize other individuals, Demiluxes may not interact with one another due to the possibility that the personality will not be the one they recognize. It is thought that this is what contributes to Demiluxes being a fairly solitary species.
The split brain of the Demilux does provide the advantage of being active at all times of day, allowing them to be more alert of predators, but provides the disadvantage that when the "awake" side switches, the new personality may be left without context for its current actions. Some Demiluxes have been observed making small "homes" for themselves, and routinely returning to this location before the other side wakes up, simply so there is less conflict between the two personalities. When both sides are awake at the same time, it can lead to confusion and internal fighting as both sides attempt to control the body. Generally, it is at the period between one side of a Demilux falling asleep and the other side waking up when they are most vulnerable, and can most easily be caught by predators.
